ALCC Denver Chapter’s Networking Event at EPIC Campus a Sucess!

The ALCC Denver Chapter recently hosted its first Lunch n Learn networking event at EPIC Campus in Littleton. The event focused on developing talent pipelines and career pathways—a critical initiative for our industry’s future growth and sustainability.

An Impressive Campus Tour

A tour of the EPIC Campus, its facilities, culture, staff, and educational mission, was led by Natural Resources Pathway Lead Mike Montgomery, showcasing several impressive features:

Natural Resources Classroom: Mike provided insights into the Natural Resources Pathway program and its curriculum.
Student Projects: We viewed photos and landscape drawings of a collaborative project between EPIC students, the Denver Botanic Gardens, and a local business. These were displayed in one of the campus’s main halls—an impressive space.
Outdoor Learning Areas: The tour included outdoor spaces dedicated to hands-on learning, featuring an aquaponics container, composting stations, and a beekeeping area.
Aerospace Facility: Perhaps one of the most impressive stops was the aerospace shop and CAD facility where students design and build high-tech aviation parts. Notably, the program has a NASA contract to manufacture specialized L-brackets that, after inspection, will be sent to the International Space Station.
Construction Lab: Students demonstrated their skills in a practical setting where teams build complete bathrooms—handling everything from framing to electrical work and plumbing.
Equipment Simulators: The campus houses construction equipment simulators that can replicate approximately a dozen different machinery types, allowing students to train in safety and basic operations.
Design Studio: The tour concluded with a visit to the architecture students’ design studio, featuring recent project models.
